Lightbulb Sugestions (simple but not simplistic)

I am writing this in hope that someone at Arena.net reads it.

These are my suggestions that i think would benefit everyone without angering anyone and would be very easy to implement:

PvE Fame

NO, this has nothing to do with the fame you get in tournaments and is more akin to Guild Ladder. I'm talking about an official PvE Ladder where you can see who are the richest players, who are the most experienced players of any given class, who is the biggest spender, who is the best
survivor having the smallest XP/death ratio.
I want to be able to be famous for my PvE-ing, and would imagine so does everybody else.
All the information required for this is already in your character databases, all you need is to sort and present it to the world.

Skill/attribute range display

When you unlock a skill it give you a floating window with the skill/attribute range (the green stuff ). I hate it when I have to spend refund points just to see how the damage/duration/whatever scales. Just add the range in parentheses after the current damage/duration/whatever.
It's a minor cosmetic change that can only help and in no way hinder and I'm sure everybody out there has at least once, at some point spent refund points just to see how a skill scales. That is not the point of refunds and granted, doing it once or twice is OK, when you're experimenting with builds and mess around with a lot of skills it's nice to know without spending all your refunds.

Cosmetic Shop

Give us the possibility to change the appearance of our character after character creation. Make it expensive as hell, but give us the possibility.
I realize there's a lot of work on this one such as setting up a new "merchant" to handle it, tying it in with the character databases but it's something that saves us the work of remaking a character because I decided that the ponytail would look better.

Make the PvP Xtreme rewards permanent

The differences between PvE and PvP are many. But the major difference that HURTS is the poor skill and item acquisition rate by means of PvP. For first Tournament wins you get 36 faction (20 from win plus 2*8 for each enemy player killed) and for all subsequent kills 56 faction (40 from win plus 2*8 for each enemy player killed). You guys do the math on how many wins it would take to unlock just one normal 1000 faction cost skill and how much time that would take. Now compare this to how much time it would take a PvE character to get a skill point (even after reaching the 20K XP cap) and I'm not even going to mention the XP u can get form FoW and UW quests...
Also rewards for wins in the competitive (random) arenas should be much higher than they are. Compare going into a team arena with a TEAM and winning to going into the competitive arena with for total strangers to form a team which is almost always severely unbalanced... the team with a monk having a HUGE advantage over the one without.
I sure hope this weekend was a field test for the new system and if it's not, MAKE it the new system.

Remove the stupid, worthless, absurd unspent faction cap

Oh and I just remembered... What on earth were you thinking when u capped the unspent faction you can have at 10K??? This is a mistake pure and simple, MISTAKE. I looked at my faction Friday night at i had 8 or so thousand, I look at it sunday night after making over 40 Fame and it's at 10 thousand. That is a waste of my time and effort... The cap was never announced anywhere, no mention of it on the official site, nothing.
BAD Arena.net, go fix it ASAP.

I hope they keep the PvPX Weekend faction rewards permanent. I think it will go a long way to reviving the PvP community. I would also add:

1. Give PvP UAS for once and all which, in turn, erases the need for faction rewards.

2. Separate PvP from PvE. Have PvP/PvE servers without the possibility of crossover between the two...or, if crossover is allowed, only a limited number of skills come with the PvP character that moves between PvP and PvE. The same should go with weaponry/armor for PvE characters moving to PvP.

3. Double the "allowable" number of characters so that players can have a satisfying number of PvE and PvP characters.

I like the 'beauty shop' idea as well. Add to that a tweak to the dye merchant so that one can see the effect a dye will have on a weapon or piece of armor and it's all good.

I don't know about PvE ladders. I think that, if ANet wanted to do something like that, they would have to pick ONE attribute to track. I would only want to see something like "monster kills" but those should only count if they are within 3-5 levels of the player's character. Still, even with that, farmers and bots would have the edge (as they would with gold acquisition, etc.).

1. I do not agree with the unlock all skills thing. If they implemented it you would have a lot of green people (new to the game) who would have access to all skills and still be useless. If they have limited choice they learn to use those skills better and improve as players as they unlock skills.

I would go for more ppl knowing what they're doing any day. If u have access to all skills the unexperienced players would get even worse because, instead of working on strategy and team play, they would be constantly switching skills. Hell, if it were up to me i'd give ppl random skills and have them work out a team strategy on the fly, using whatever they have at their disposal.

2. Why separate them? PvE chars have no real benefits over PvP chars. Yes we might have cool looking armor but it's just as good as the PvP one in terms of functionality. As for weapons, PvE chars get a wider range of choice, true, but that does not imply a BETTER range of choice.

I just can't see this happen because it would would mean killing off character slots. Why have a slot for a PvP mesmer and a slot for a PvE mesmer??? you only have 4 slots.

3. This will surely happen but only in the next chapter... Arena.net isn't going to be giving us this one for free, just like the Auction house and many other things.

Also being able to see what armor would look like on you char before you buy it would be nice. I know there are screen shots of Fissure armor out there on the net but thinks always look different when use them in the game, in 3D. Also, since they created armor that costs heaps for purely esthetic reasons, it would make sense to actually SHOW that armor and not some crappy 20*20 icon that does not even look like the armor. Mesmer FoW armor has a rogue like icon in the crafter window but the armor you get is enchanter's like... WTF is that? BAD Arena.net, go fix.

I think you should be able to unlock all skills once you've beaten the game. This way you've already had skill and now you can experiment with other classes and builds. Maybe give PVPers a training area to catch different animal pets or test out fighting combos or what not.

They are lacking a variety of PVP. They should have more games like hide and seek, killing waves of monsters or defending your fort or something.

Yeah, a PVP char has all types to choose from that are max damage. Yeah I'd be lucky to get one weapon close to that with the upgrades I want.

yup, just barely enough for 3 characters and one pvp that you'll have to delete any time you want something else.

agreed. It should be displayed in all parts you want to buy like when you're buying a cape and it displays it on your back. Also it should allow you to preview colors on the armour aswell so you're not wasting dyes just to see what it'd look like.
